Install MELETRA on an Intel Mac

Currently unavailable. A MELETRA build for Intel Macs is offered only after it has been built and tested on a real Intel Mac. Until the download page shows a download button for Intel Macs, there is nothing to install; no older Mac build is offered as MELETRA 4.1.

When it is available: macOS 12 or newer, Intel processor (for example a 2019 MacBook). This build does not run on Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3). About 3 GB are downloaded during installation and about 8 GB of free disk space are needed. To check your Mac: Apple menu → About This Mac → Processor must say “Intel”.

On the download page click Download MELETRA for Intel Mac. Open the downloaded MELETRA-Installer-IntelMac.zip (Safari opens it by itself) to get MELETRA Installer.
Right-click MELETRA Installer and choose Open, then Open again. (The installer is not notarized by Apple yet, so macOS asks once. Please do not turn Gatekeeper off for your whole Mac.)
Click Install. The installer downloads the program, checks every file automatically, copies MELETRA to Applications and finishes. An installed WhisperMedical or Medical Lecture Transcriber is replaced; your lectures and settings are kept.
Open MELETRA from Applications. (The program is signed on the build machine but not notarized by Apple. If macOS asks about it the first time, right-click it, choose Open, then Open again — only once.) Whisper Large-v3 is already inside — nothing is downloaded and no internet is needed to use it.

If your connection drops, open the installer again: it continues where it stopped.

Uninstall

Drag MELETRA (in earlier versions: WhisperMedical or Medical Lecture Transcriber) from Applications to the Trash.
